STARING in the surf has the same effect as gazing in a campfire. Your eyes get a blank expression and your mind wanders. Ansel Adams popped out this state and pressed the button of his camera. The result is this nice series of photos. The pictures are known as Surf Sequence No. 1 till 5. As the story goes, Adams was driving one morning in 1940 along the Californian coast and frequently stopped the car to look out from the cliffs at the lively surf below. Eventually he took the pictures at San Mateo County Coast.
